I was certain that The Graveyard Book deserved the Newbery before I even read it because I’ve read other things by Neil Gaiman and I think he’s wonderful. Now that I am reading and thoroughly enjoying it, the smile on my face just gets wider and wider. Read, if you will, this snippet from page 70:
“Name the different kinds of people,” said Miss Lupescu. “Now.”
Bod thought for a moment. “The living,” he said. “Er. The dead.” He stopped. Then, “…Cats?” he offered, uncertainly.
Can there be any doubt as the the excellence of this book?
